Pat/Roger's paternal great great grandmother

Edward Watkiss
married 2 June 1822 at St Michael in the Hamlet, Aigburth, Lancashire [Liverpool]                                                       to Sarah Hoyde [AKA Hyde. Hide]

Witnesses: James Watkiss [quite likely Edward's older brother], Sarah Watkiss (Sarah signed with x; ?James's wife?).

Sarah Hoyde spinster of Walton on the Hill; Edward Watkiss, bachelor of Walton on the Hill.

Register entry notes that "Bride signed her name as Hyde"
Source: Lancashire Online Parish Clerks

[There are family trees on the net that give Sarah's maiden name as Floyde, but John Henry Watkiss's birth certificate, see below, clearly shows it to be Hoyde. 1838 registration for Richard gives the variant "Hide" for mother's maiden name. Floyde error has also led to misattribution of Sarah's birthplace to Staffordshire. Have not yet tracked down her proper birthplace]
